Some door trim and some newly made plinth blocks. I missed those.

A bit of disorder in the downstairs bathroom.
A pretty threshold between the kitchen and the living room. (The big, rusty
can of dangerous chemicals is temporary.)
We are a little concerned that some of the guys got a little over-zealous today... Perhaps because they've been working on another project requiring some heavy demolition for the last week or so.... Whatever the reason -- we have a few scratches, dents, and cracks in places that we had no intention of repairing AGAIN. Dean assures us everything will be fixed -- and that he'll talk to the guys about being more careful around here.

Anyway, I was trying to say my mother always warned me about contractors...it was much funnier the first time around, but I'm too tired to enter it all again :(
That's a very attractive threshold (the one under the can of chemicals :-)
I wonder if you tend to trip over it though? I'm doing some house stuff and one thing that concerns me is the join between a wood floor in the living room and the vinyl in the mudroom would be a fairly large piece of wood like that. I can see myself, super klutz, tripping over it at some point. It's not in a doorway, but across several feet of where the rooms meet.

Actually... As a matter of fact we've had no problem at all with tripping over the wider threshold - which, now that I think about it, is pretty amazing. We have three of these leading into three different doors into the kitchen and no trips -- even by various contractors or visitors. (And I shall here admit that I, too, am something of a super klutz.) So that's not bad huh?
The only problem we DID have with the one pictured here - is that it was set in place with only a teeny amount of liquid nails and well.. the littlest kids (despite my best efforts to stop it) kept riding over that threshold with their little ride-on horses and cars. Yes they eventually popped it loose.
However, as a testament to the non-tripping nature of this design -- even though we have yet to reglue that piece .. and even though it's in a high traffic area.. After about six months of sitting there just waiting to get kicked out and across the living room -- it never has been.
One of the floor guys told us that the wider the threshold the less likely you are to trip. Which is why we went with a wider strip when we installed the potential trip-hazard that is our laundry/mud room transition. (Think transition from wood floor to saltillo tile in a thick mortar bed -- there's at least a 3/4" difference.) So far the theory holds up and no one has stubbed a toe in and out of that room to the backyard.
With it not being in a doorway - I can see how that may change things a bit. However - if there's enough of a color or texture difference between the two floors - and a wide enough transition - it seems like the eye and brain would better process it.
