I never get around to 'after' pictures

Because we've usually moved on to the next project before I have time to charge the camera batteries.

Here's what we've moved on to! Consider the following to be something of a 'before' picture though - as you can see - there was already stuff going on at this point... (Including my using the prominently pictured wall as a test board for the texturing technique.)

The only progress shown here is that the old chair-rail was removed... And we made a big mess.
(We consider that progress around here.)

Even with all the Christmas decorating and errand running - we completed a huge amount in this room over the past couple of days -- including the removal of the old carpet to make room for carpet tile. And lookie what we found!

Shocking: Water damage!

We had no idea the leak in the roof above George's room had been that extensive (and/or had gone on that long). Erp. The new roof was a good idea.

So it was actually Dave who did all the carpet-removing. I managed to get the paint done. George decided to go with grays for his room - the colors are both Valspar Signature with the basecoat in 'Voyage' and the glaze in something that I can't remember at the moment but I think it had the word 'mist' in its name.

The thing about gray wall color is that it changes completely depending on the light. The halogen lamp pictured brings out the grayest gray.

In progress.

The close-up of the texture technique I used for this room.
(Note the gray has a purple tint in this one.)

Ultra-close-up of the texture.

I completed most of the trim paint earlier tonight so we should be ready to lay carpet tile very, very soon (as soon as we recover from this weekend). Then we'll be installing baseboards and putting some furniture back into the room. More to come.
