I think I hate water now.

Especially when it's toilet water.

Yesterday Lowe's finally sent someone out to replace the cracked and leaking guest bathroom toilet..... Although it still won't be truly functional until we buy a new seat since the old one corroded at the attachment bolts and couldn't be removed from the old toilet no matter how hard the guy tried....

But I woke up this morning to George softly informing me that the upstairs toilet had backed up and that there was 'a lot' ("I mean A LOT") flooding the bathroom floor. I sent the kids to gather towels (again) while I attempted to get dressed. I managed to put on some pants before Yvonne and Emily came to let me know that the dining room was 'wet' and 'sippery'.

Yes. More ceiling repairs ahead!

I would be panicking about water damage to the wood floors in the dining room if we had ever replaced the water-damaged wood floors in the dining room following Katrina.

George wasn't kidding - it was A LOT of water. However, it really wasn't enough to cause a downstairs leak in any normal circumstances.... But these are no normal circumstances and Dave and I were rather rudely reminded that we really need to fix the upstairs bathroom floor (which began peeling up after Katrina flooded it). Without a water-resistant floor in place... any spills or overflows or inevitable disasters caused by the boys will end up downstairs via the subfloor and ceiling in a matter of minutes.

We were planning on installing that floor ourselves... but uh... if you've read our blog you know how plans go around here.

I'm not sure if I should send a mop, a plumber or valium...

I believe you remarked to me before that the people who had to rebuild from the slab were luckier than those who had to repair a still standing house. All the damage that was done is going to show up for a long time to come. Sorry hon, hang in there!
