Grout Day!

I really never thought I'd be happy about grout again after that whole grout thing with the kitchen -- but I am. Yesterday's Trim Day gave way to Grout Day early this morning.

Grouting begins.

This was after "Slim" (not his real name) and Dean worked on rearranging the plumbing for the jacuzzi and put the tub in place for a dry run.

The tub was set in place temporarily to check the location of the drain and water lines.

The fireplace was completely grouted this afternoon by a very relieved Dean when he found out that I was not expecting him to avoid filling all those little holes in the tumbled marble.

Little holes and cracks all filled with grout on the fireplace.

The fireplace doesn't look all that different from the ungrouted fireplace at this time -- and although that is sort of the point, the look will change a bit as the grout dries to a much lighter (ivory) color. This time, we actually do want the grout to dry light.

Meanwhile, the same sort of thing is happening in the master bath with the tub surround.

With grout: left of corner -- Without grout -- right of corner.

The guys also reinstalled our wood panel for the front of the tub surround this afternoon and ran most of the necessary baseboard to start finishing off the master bath.

As for our tub surround tile edge dilemma we have all agreed that the tile will be continued out to the door casing on the left and completely around the partial wall to the shower on the right. They will remove the first row of tiles on the right and replace those with full tiles to make the whole thing work... and we will also run the tile down to the baseboards on the sides to give the effect of 'surrounding' the wood panel and trim on the front. Many, many thanks to Todd, Mom, Swapna, and Heather for your suggestions!!!
