A good bit of our homework was left undone when I was interrupted by the flu Saturday night. Sunday was spent in bed - and I don't remember a whole lot of it other than Dave constantly taking my temperature and forcing me to drink bad-tasting hot lemony concoctions. (Thanks, Dave.)

Today wasn't much better as far as my coherence goes... But I am told that for the first time ever there were so many work-type trucks outside the house in the street that parking was next-to-impossible... and apparently a whole lot of people were in and out of the house all day doing various things.

Here's what I do know: The exterior door which leads to the laundry room was removed and replaced today. How do I know this? Because at some point I was forced to leave the couch to give my opinion on what to do when the replacement door wasn't quite the same size as the original door.

The laundry room door: gone.

I'm not quite sure what I agreed to -- but tonight there is a door leading into the laundry room from the outside. There is no doorknob because apparently the old one fell into little pieces when it was removed (no surprise there -- the saltwater has done stranger things) -- but there is definitely a door.

The other laundry room door.

I also know that the interior laundry room door was installed today -- I saw it on one of my frequent and urgent trips down that hallway toward the guest bathroom (Flu, remember?). It pleased me. I think this simple door will end up being one of my favorite rennovations post-Katrina.

There was painting done too. I found this out when I stumbled into the bedroom wrapped in an old bedspread looking for the Vick's VapoRub and almost stepped in a can of paint thinner.

For a brief moment I thought that some plumbing was done for the tub as well. This happened when Dean (I didn't know he was here) came running into the living room with a really worried look on his face asking where the shut-off for the water supply to the house was. I was wrong though -- and it turns out that someone managed to hit a waterline with a nail gun when repairing the shelves in Dave's closet. ("Uhm - please don't flood our house," said Dave.)

I'm not sure what else happened -- but there was lots of clatter and wooshing of nail guns and scurrying about. I'm not sure what tomorrow will bring -- but I distinctly remember someone warning me that they would be here around 6 am in the morning... again.

That means it's bedtime for this flu-ridden person. I'll post more as I discover it.

Very nice Anita, things are moving faster now and it will be great to see the downstairs finished. It will happen!
