Ah... exhaustion.. I had forgotten how wondrous it really is...

We had an incredibly hectic and confusing day today - so I will try really hard to tell you about it without sounding hectic and confused -- or, importantly, without confusing you.

It started out simply: We slept late. For the first time in weeks - Dave did not go into work on his day off and we weren't expecting any crews here to work on the house (The painter called Thursday to let us know he got tied up and won't be back until the beginning of next week.. Dean and his crew are almost completely done and waiting for cabinet doors before they return). Therefore, we slept. We didn't even set an alarm. It was peaceful. Bliss.

The morning (and the rest of the day) was gorgeous.

Once we got dressed - Dave took Cosmo over to our veterinarian to have him weighed and to pick up his heartworm/flea medication. (It is worth noting here that Cosmo now weighs 42 pounds. He is four and a half months old. Judge is two years old and weighs 47 pounds. All I can hope for is that Cosmo gets over his fascination with digging up the backyard before he gets much bigger....)

Er but back to the day: We then made out a shopping list and packed all the kids into the car for a trip to Wal-mart for dog treats and snacks for the babies and other such things. We managed to pick up everything we needed on the right side of the store but never made it to the grocery section because we decided to go ahead and buy a bunkbed for William.

Now I must explain the bunkbed plan in greater detail.

Our next repair phase is the upstairs. Specifically the hallway and gameroom followed closely by the south upstairs bedroom. The gameroom and south upstairs bedroom happen to be the rooms where we are currently storing our packed up stuff from downstairs, building materials, and who knows what else. We need somewhere to move this stuff. We aren't moving it downstairs.

Also on our to-do list is to repaint and redecorate William's room. The ceilings in that room are water-damaged and all of the light fixtures have to be replaced - so while we're at it we'll update since he's outgrown the decor.

Soooo we're going to move the stuff from the south bedroom and the gameroom into William's room while we're waiting to work on William's room. In the meantime we're moving William into George's room. Thus, the bunkbed. The bunkbed is William's. But it won't be in his room until it's finished. When his room is finished we'll move his bed back into his room and move George with the bed until we can fix George's room and buy him a bunkbed. Are you following?

Of course what this means is we spent four hours cleaning out George's room getting ready and making room for the bunkbed before we could even begin the four hours it took to put said bunkbed together.

Ah - but none of this bunkbed/room cleaning madness started right away. After we brought the bunkbed home and dragged it into the kitchen - we all got back in the car and went to visit with Mom for a couple of hours. After the visit - we stopped by Walmart again to get what we needed from the left side of the store. THEN it was home to clean out George's room and spend the entire night putting a bunkbed together.

No, the camouflage bedding does not, in fact, go with the red and tan walls... But this is William's bed. And George's room. It will match William's room... Which is purple at the moment... But we'll fix that, too.

And now that I've stayed up past midnight trying to get my internet connection to work so that I could put all the stuff we took out of George's room on Freecycle.... It's time for a good night's sleep. *flop*
