MDA changes contract policies after HUD review: "GAUTIER -- Although they maintain they did nothing wrong in awarding a Hurricane Katrina-related contract to two legislators, Mississippi Development Authority officials have made some changes to their policies on such matters.
The changes came after U.S. Housing and Urban Development officials said MDA should have inquired further about potential ethical violations before awarding a grant finalization contract, worth up to $1.2 million, to a company created by Sen. Tommy Robertson, R-Moss Point, and Rep. Jim Beckett, R-Bruce."

Anita,
I'm looking for your experiences in working with the Mississippi Homeowners Grant program. A New Orleans Blogger recently wrote an editorial detailing what he and his wife went thru and I'd like to see if the experience was similar in Mississippi.

there is a link to his editorial.
Thanks.
Now that you mention it - I didn't really go into the application or closing process in detail! The MDA service centers are strictly MDA service centers -- FEMA and SBA have no presence there.. and I think that makes a big difference.
It hurts in the pit of my stomach to read the editorial.. I completely understand what they went through.. We asked ourselves how people less tenacious - less connected - less experienced -- could possibly navigate the process if it had caused us so much anguish. But for us - that process was the FEMA/SBA process.
I'll add a post and explain.
Hugs!
