Our plumber never showed up. Why is it that folks in this industry believe themselves to be totally exempt from the rules of common courtesy? We never even got a phone call telling us no one was going to show. Today's workday is half-over and we still haven't heard from yesterday's plumber. To top that off -- we also haven't heard from today's would-be electrician.

I understand that all of these folks are swimming in work at the moment and feel that they can pick and choose jobs... But do they have absolutely no concept of a future where everyone on earth doesn't need their services at the same time? Do they not understand that when that time comes and we have a leaky pipe or want an outlet installed... that we aren't going to call the people who stood us up post-Katrina?

Our painters did show - both yesterday and today -- and more and more in the kitchen is gleaming white as each day passes. AND one can of grout stain arrived yesterday afternoon. Before the day ended - I broke out the paint brushes and tested a few areas to be sure this is what we want before we commit to changing the whole floor.

See that spot in the middle of the picture where the grout almost just disappears? Yeah.. that's it.

We all agree that there was, indeed, a reason for selecting the dark grout in the first place... And our test areas give the effect we were originally going for. And so -- though it will be a painstaking effort.. It will be well worth it in the end to correct the grout color.
