Phase I: Uh... Still... beginning.....

It is now nearly 5pm. The painting crew has been gone for nearly three hours now and well... that's about all there is to report. No paint has actually been applied to the cabinets just yet -- but we're very confident that this will change over the course of the next 72 hours or so.

Most of today was spent sanding, caulking, and cleaning the cabinet frames. I'm told tomorrow there may be some actual painting going on. Our doors and drawer-facings have yet to be sprayed due to weather concerns... There it is - the weather again. It's the weather that got us into this mess -- it could at least cooperate while we're trying to get out of it.

I heard from Lowe's this afternoon. It was a courtesy call to thank us for choosing Lowe's for the purchase of our countertops and reminding us that once the counter materials are shipped to the store that an installation specialist will contact us within 72 hours to schedule installation. Woo! The real trick, of course, is guessing just how long it will take for those materials to get shipped to the store.

I also got a call from a place called Creative Interiors or something like that in Mobile, AL. Apparently, these folks are the 'installation specialists' that Lowe's was telling me about. They are scheduled to come make a template for cutting the countertops tomorrow at 3pm. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that the template-making specialists will be able to do their job despite wet paint. I'm also crossing my fingers that there will actually BE wet paint to worry about.
