The Sun Herald | 08/27/2006 | The top five issues: Housing

The Sun Herald | 08/27/2006 | The top five issues: Housing: "Barbour said he has been surprised many people - he estimates about three-quarters of them - are choosing to rebuild their existing homes, even those that were severely damaged or nearly destroyed. He said he had expected more to move further inland and build or buy new houses.

He said one thing driving this decision is people don't think they can find contractors to build new homes and they're better off rebuilding in place.

'I expected a larger percentage to demolish what was left,' Barbour said. 'Then, either build something new there or sell that real estate and buy a lot further north.'"

Or.. could it be.. that we're talking about our homes here, Mr. Barbour - and not merely housing?

It's obvious Governor Barbour can't put himself in our position. He has his home, we want ours. What's hard to understand?
