The Fireplace in Super Slo-Mo

I know that repairs around here have been moving at such a lightning-fast pace that sometimes it's really hard for all of you to keep up... So I have decided to recap the repair of our fireplace.

Things look promising on February 5, 2007 - Dave and I consider leaving it like this and calling it 'done':
