Did We Survive Hurricane Katrina or Not?

Smashed gutters don't do a lot of good.. On the bright side the worst section is over the steps rather than the flowerbeds...

It's a wonderful dreary rainy day. Yes, I said wonderful... The break from the heat and the blinding sun is much-appreciated. And the less than cooperative weather forces us to turn our weekend projects indoors for a change. It's quite frustrating to have to spend most of the weekend maintaining the yard when so much remains to be done inside the house.

Dave is grinding away at the pantry floor as I type this. And you thought the floor-grinding was all over didn't you? Nope. Thinset is very stubborn stuff. We decided that there would be little point in prepping and painting the pantry if we still would have to grind the floors -- and stand the chance of having to re-prep and re-paint the pantry. (However, I would rather repaint the pantry 50 times than have to dust the canned goods again. Argh.)

We have gotten a good amount of the garage ready for painting - but we're still planning on holding off out there until the weather turns consistently cooler. Sweat and paint don't mix well.

In other news -- we received our signed subordination agreements from our mortgage company via UPS last night. And we have made an appointment with Jackson County Land & Title for our grant closing for next Thursday, September 14th. We're closer and closer to having the funds to get some real work done around here.
