Upcoming versions will likely include actual furnishings and decor.

Before: Could I have possibly come up with a worse before picture?

After: We decided to randomize the carpet-tile texture to add a little bit of whimsy to the room. William is only 10 years old you know... Whimsy is important at that age or else they get all serious and boring and stop playing video games with their parents.
The carpet tile is GREAT (visit
iCarpetiles.com for your own). We had originally laid out the tile by following the directional arrows on the backs which gave the overall appearance of a solid carpeted floor -- very nice and seams barely noticeable. However, after playing around with laying tiles at random orientations - William loved the effect (he said it looked like a jungle floor - and besides... all of those random blocks are great for setting up toy soldier skirmishes) and we went with it.

Before: The wall colors really did work when William was younger.. They did. But dirty carpet and using the room for storage while renovating the entire house doesn't really work for any age.

After: William's original army theme obviously mutated quite a bit during application. He started to lean more toward a world-traveler/adventurer sort of theme. We'll be adding cool accessories like globes and world maps and cargo netting and retro army gear and black chandeliers.... (Okay, the black chandeliers are for me.) We're thinking along the lines of
Indiana Jones meets
Masterpiece Theater.
UPDATE:
Still not entirely decorated (of course) - but William has officially moved in.
