Jackson County Civil Defense Director Butch Loper tells us right now, air monitors show nothing hazardous, but tests are still being done. Loper says the release of sulfur dioxide happened around 8am.
Two schools near Mississippi Chemical have been keeping students indoors until everyone is certain the air is still safe. The Department of Environmental Quality and Mississippi Chemical are taking air monitors to Resurrection School and Cherokee Elementary."
