Back in April we splurged and ordered a nice armoire where we were hoping to hide a computer somewhere downstairs. We learned in May that the armoire was back-ordered and not to arrive until June. June arrived and the freight company called to schedule a delivery... but no truck ever showed up with an armoire on it. After a few phone calls we discovered that the armoire never made it to any truck. It was sitting in a warehouse somewhere in Alabama in a state described as 'torn up', 'totally destroyed' and, 'in pieces'.

The broken unit was sent back to wherever it came from and we waited for a replacement to be sent. It arrived this past Thursday. In a big box. Unassembled. If we had realized when we ordered this 201.7 lb piece of furniture that it was coming to us totally unassembled we would have never bought it in the first place... But that's all beside the point now that we spent all day Friday fighting with really, really poorly illustrated and poorly written instructions to get the thing put together.

It's just that it was sent back the first time for being 'in pieces'.... I guess the freight company expected it to be assembled too.

oooo very very pretty! HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TOO!
BTW, thanks for not blogging for so long, seems I don't have to sit for hours on end catching up on everyone's news!
Cheers

Really looks nice though, worth all that work. Where did you get it?

Glad to see Judge, too.

trudy: We ordered it from homedecorators.com. It's a sturdy piece of furniture - real wood - and it's still holding up well despite tons of use.
