I woke up this morning to find that the crack in the center skylight had grown a couple of inches in various directions. It's now obvious that it's radiating from a pressure point at the edge of the glass.... A stray flashing nail, most likely.

Soooo... I came back downstairs to start the day's rituals. Sweep the floors. Swiffer the floors. Clean the counters. Dust everything. Make the beds. Make snacks. Start a load of laundry. Make some coffee. Get everyone started on homeschool lessons. Vacuum the house to remove all the stuff that sweeping, swiffering, and dusting couldn't get.

I got stuck on the vacuum the house part. After searching for the vacuum cleaner for a good fifteen minutes I finally remembered that it's not here. It was taken to the vacuum cleaner hospital yesterday after it was left unattended in the kitchen with Cosmo for 23 seconds and he chewed through the power cord. Bleh!

No big plans on the horizon today. There may be a visit from Dean to pick up some money from us - but no work scheduled until later in the week.

Speaking of Dean, he had casually mentioned on the telephone yesterday that all that was left of our downstairs repairs was the painting of the entertainment center and replacing of the cabinet doors. I don't agree. In one quick walk-through I was able to fill a school-sized notebook page with stuff left unfinished. Not big stuff, mind you.... An unpainted baseboard here - missing trim there - loose tile here.... We'll walk-through with him tomorrow afternoon to point these things out.

Dave informs me that the replacement skylight is on order from Ocean Springs lumber. The vacuum cleaner is in the shop until at least Thursday of this week as the technician won't be in until Wednesday. Dave's truck is in the shop for some totally necessary repairs as his brakes went out at the end of last week.

It's another one of those gremlin cycles. That's what it is.
