We are officially at the most irritating stage of home repair. This is the stage when everything is essentially done... but there are little nagging things that have to be finished before its truly done. What we're mostly in need of at this point is a truckload of caulk and about the same amount of paint.
Our painter is great. The problem is that he's a painter. No no -- nothing wrong with painters .. especially when you need painting done... What I mean is - he's A painter. As in - one lone painter adrift in a sea of painting-t0-be-done. The amount of trim and cabinetry we have to be painted makes my head hurt when I start to think about it too hard. It also makes me supremely happy that I am not actually going to be the one painting it. However, I feel sorry for this guy.
It's going to be a while before he can possibly finish this part of the job -- especially when our carpenters came through today and tacked up an awful lot of raw wood. Sigh. And we thought we had priming out of the way. Of course - it's going to take even longer if he doesn't get back here to work on it. (He was due here on Tuesday this week... Now I'm hearing possibly Thursday.)

Trimming out the fireplace tile...

Baseboards & shoe moulding & stuff
Regardless, we are still only a matter of a couple of weeks away from being able to move furniture back against the walls and unpack some boxes. AND I'll be able to decorate with something other than levels, hammers, and rolls of drywall tape.
Remaining to-do list for downstairs (interior) repairs:
1) Install cabinet doors: kitchen, living room, guest bath, master bath
2) Prime as necessary & paint all trim, baseboards, and cabinetry - all rooms
3) Touch up wall paint wherever possible -- repaint walls wherever necessary - all rooms
4) Install new toilet guest bath (the one Dave installed is listing.. and it is also too tall for that
bathroom configuration) - install guest bath toilet in master bath water closet.
5) Properly install in-floor electrical outlets in living room
6) Install plantation shutters in kitchen
7) Replace shower door - master bath
8) Paint/stain staircase risers/railing
That's it!! Really. It is!
Everything else is decorating and organizing. Poof! Only 19 months later... It's done.
