We're back on the ball as far as getting things done around here. "Slim" (not his real name) tells me he actually arrived at our house at about 5:15 this morning. I'll have to take his word for it though because I didn't open the door for him until six. He spent the day finishing up some caulking and spackling in preparation for the return of the painters (we haven't seen them since December!) next Monday. Woo!
He and Dean worked on staining our shoe moulding both yesterday and today -- and the final coats of polyurethane were applied to our new front door as well as our snazzy new interior laundry room door.

The doors drying in the garage earlier this evening.
"Slim" is scheduled to arrive at the crack of dawn on Monday along with "Bob" the trim guy to finish up various wood projects around the house -- in addition to the painters coming in to actually start applying paint to trim. Also on the menu -- Dean is slated to arrive to possibly work on the bathtub plumbing and whatever else needs doing that can be done.
Our homework this weekend: We must find about 14 feet worth of trim for the dining room to match the existing trim on the archway. Eep. I managed to salvage our old trim -- but I am missing about two feet of it... and I think that gap would be a bit too large to hide with caulk.
Also - we must come up with a definitive solution for the sheetrock edges of the tub surround tile this weekend so that we can put whatever plan we come up with into action in the coming week.
Is the end near? Can it be?
Well no... We still have to paint all the walls and then there are those pesky cabinet doors... there's the floor to be refinished in the dining room and the carpet for the stairs. Then we go upstairs. OH but it all feels so much closer now.

I stumbled across your blog today searching through technorati and I really enjoyed reading some of your postings about your long struggle. You folks sure have been through a rough spell.
If you're interested in getting more folks to read your blog I've recently started a home improvement blogroll. In a nut shell the blogroll is a way for other home owners to share their blogs with folks that like reading similar blogs.
My wife has used other peoples blogrolls and her readeship has gone up quite a bit. If you're interested check it out at http://homeimprovementblogroll.blogspot.com
Best of luck with your project,
Todd
