Well okay things can change quickly around here.
Dean just came by with the written estimate and - although it's still a little higher than I'd like - it isn't anything all that bleak and terrible. Obviously, there was a bit of miscommunication going on between Dave and Dean in their own telephone conversation. The written estimate does actually include those three major items that set me off last night. What it does not include are certain materials related to those items. That is: the actual front door, the firebox for the fireplace, and the tile for the jacuzzi & fireplace surrounds.
Yay for miscommunication! Er.. well wait.. no.
We still have to sit down and calculate some more and see what we can and can't do...
But at least now I don't feel a midnight raid in Agricola is necessary -- and that's always good...

Woo that sounds much better, although I still think it's high without all of those materials at least partially included.
Hugs though!
Yes.. yes it's definitely still high... And the highest item in the breakdown is labor, of course. Honestly, with skilled labor in such high demand around here I can see how the labor cost would have gone up a lot since our original estimate... I don't like it -- but I can see how it happened.
It's time to budget!!! Augh! Hugs back.
