Did We Survive Hurricane Katrina or Not?

So here we are on the eve of another week. Friday didn't quite work out as expected when the appliance guy showed up only to tell us that he doesn't install appliances -- he only repairs them. (Now you'd think that the girl who set up the appointment for the installation of three appliances would have mentioned that at some point... but I guess not. ) Dave didn't think fast enough to say something like "Oh yeah! Now that you mention it... They ARE broken and that's why we took them out..." Sooo... Friday passed with no appliances installed.

To top it off.. the grout stain we've been waiting on to finally finish the kitchen floor didn't show up either. We called the Carpet & Tile Store to find that no one could find the stain.. or any record of the order... And so we were forced to place a new order and are looking at another week's wait at the least.

We did manage to get in touch with a plumber and an electrician. The plumber should be here tomorrow to install the sink and get the connection ready for the dishwasher. The electrician is due to arrive on Tuesday - and hopefully he installs appliances.

The painters came in for a few hours on Friday and painted various doors and trim and so on - but there's still plenty left to paint before I'll be able to paint the walls. The plan is to get everything but the baseboards painted as soon as possible. Then we will all have to pause long enough for me to stain the grout up to the baseboards. After that -- our contractor will have shoe moulding installed and THEN the baseboards will be painted at the same time as the shoe.

The mystery at this point is: When will we have drawers and doors on cabinets in the kitchen again? Where are they? Are they painted yet? Will they ever be painted? Many of them are gone with Dean at the moment -- off into the wilds of Lucedale or Agricola or some such place as that. Others are left waiting forlornly in our garage - badly in need of paint.

I think in general we'd be wise to simply assume we're not going to have the kitchen back together before Christmas.... But we can still hope, right?
