No Katrina grant check? Puh!

With no grant check in sight -- we've been trying to find projects that we can afford in the meantime. Don't get me wrong -- there's no shortage of work to do around the house... it's just finding something that might fit our budget that a contractor might be willing to do that's the trick.

We finally decided to have the laminate flooring installed in the spare room upstairs. We bought the flooring last year -- long before Katrina -- and, for obvious reasons, never quite got around to installing it. At the time, the room was simply an unfinished storage room that we were planning on converting into a bedroom for Yvonne. (I hope this explains the bright tangerine color I had picked for the walls.... )

But the closet in that room has been where we store all of our Christmas & Halloween decorations -- and I was not at all happy with the idea of stuffing them in the attic to be ruined. With Dave needing space to do some work at home now - the office idea just makes more sense AND spares my decorations. (And, yes, I will be repainting the room a more office-friendly color in the future.)

Yvonne checks out the floor so far. She said it was 'cute'.

Not much left in the room itself - but there's still a closet to go.

So it's not technically a Katrina repair... Just one of the many rennovations that were pending prior to Katrina. Even so -- getting ANYTHING done around ANYWHERE in the house is thrilling... Although now we have another room that needs to have baseboards replaced. :)
