This week we mourned the passing of my trusty miter saw. We knew any hopes of the saw surviving the salt water were pure folly... But it was hard for me to throw out a former birthday present. When we found that the shorts in the cord were starting to burn through the insulation though -- we realized it was time. Goodbye, noble home-remodeling implement. (Yes - we are aware that a good bath in fresh water immediately following flooding could have saved items such as this. We were even aware of it at the time. However, much to our frustration - the only fresh water available was our bottled drinking water.)
