On May 4, 2006, according to information gathered by Site Meter -- there was a visitor to my blog from parts unknown on the Verizon network. I noticed the visitor was referred to my site by a Yahoo search.. and I love to check and see what search terms were entered to find my site... sooo...
On this day our visitor was searching on the following phrase:
"coverage story of Katrina start to finish"
And it made me very sad to realize that folks out there really think that's it... That there is a start and a finish to cover already... And I also noticed the visit duration at my blog was quite brief (less than a few seconds...). Obviously, I did not have the news they were looking for. Obviously, there is no 'finish' here.
AH well.. All that aside.. I thought I would take a few moments to answer some of the most common questions that come through those search engines on the way to my site:
1) "How to receive FEMA grants"
That one is easy. There is no such thing as a FEMA grant. If you were denied your SBA loan and told that you would be eligible for grants through the Federal Emergency Management Agency, but are still waiting to hear from them.... Don't hold your breath. FEMA will do nothing further than refer you to various 'programs' that may be available if you have a yearly income less than $10,000, own farmland, are on disability, or English is not your first language. If you're just some poor schmuck who works every day to make a decent living but don't happen to have the resources to pay back a 100,000 dollar loan to SBA in addition to your regular mortgage payments... Then, apparently, the grant program is not for you.
2) "Information on Homeowner's Assistance Grant Program"
Your guess is as good as mine.
3) "How can I find Ballards Old South Cornbread Mix?"
I don't know -- but if you find some, please pick up an extra box for me.
4) "How to remove baseboards"
Go read a few national news articles about Hurricane Katrina -- make yourself really, really angry. Purchase a large crowbar. Rip your house apart.

Errr, but what about the secret grants and the coded passwords?
I promise that if I ever manage to crack the code -- I shall publish my findings here for my fellow coastians.
Oooo, and here I thought you had cracked it and were just holding out on me.
