We're all home now and completely exhausted. This is a good thing -- children are more likely to take naps when they've been out in the heat for a few hours. Woo!!
You know I still couldn't help but notice the broken pier and the missing park benches and picnic tables... the playground which has been cleared away.. the slab where the pavillion once stood... The small debris still imbedded in the beach sand... But this afternoon - looking out from under the oaks at the glittering water - I realized we're still home.

So glad you had a good weekend, but the passage of time seems so shocking to me. The kids have grown so much since I last saw pics of them, specially Emily and Yvonne!
The beach looks wonderful though, and here's to hoping you had a house full of tuckered out kids who napped and slept away the evening.

Swap
Hey Swap - I was thinking the same thing when I saw the pictures I took of Emily, especially. It seems like they grew quickly -- but then again it's been a long time when I actually think about it... Bizarre!
You're right about the beach -- wonderful. I guess that's what finally hit me yesterday while we were out there: No wonder we want to live here... I worry a lot about plans to wreck what we have with condos and high-rises and chain restaurants. It's our simple shoreline that's so appealing.. And you sit under one of those 500 year old oak trees and for a moment you can feel what it must have been like 500 years ago. I hate to lose that.
Hugs!
Anita
We did it Anita, we had our picnic ... went very well. We will plan one for the 4th of July too, if hurricanes permit. The pics of little Emily and Yvonne are so cute, they really have grown especially Yvonne.

I'm proud of us, Mom!!
Remember we'll get out for a couple 'field trips' this summer too...
Love you,

Anita, It is good that you are all making the effort to heal and move on. Your family is so sweet. We still keep you in our prayers. ((((HUGS))) Melanie
