Farewell, Idiot Box.

Tonight, we mourn the passing of yet another appliance. Tonight, our television bit the dust. Now - we can't say for sure whether its passing is hurricane-related... but suspicions run high.

It has been eight months since the passing of our satellite dish receiver.. and seven months since we made the decision to not restore satellite service nor replace it with cable television service. As a result - we have had no television programming to speak of since early August 2005. However, the television was still a central part of our routine -- used for Wiggles videos and watching Finding Nemo seven thousand times per day with the girls... And, of course, for our family movie nights whenever we could find a decent family movie.

I feel a little lost. Entertainment is at a premium these days... and it fairly stings to lose one of the few sources we had.

Dear Friend,
Please keep in very close contact. I fear for you life tomorrow morning when there is no Shrek 2 or Nemo for your two princesses...I really am very afraid!

Thank goodness the boys will be around as a distraction, heehee.

Hugs,
Swapna
PS how you managed without cable this long is a true testament to your creativity anyway, no let's see what happens

LOL Thanks, Mel!!

We have managed to hook up a little TV while the other is at the 'TV doctor'. I don't know how long this one will last either -- since it was actually IN the water -- but hopefully it will hold out a little while longer.

You know -- I was completely unaware that older model TVs are completely incompatible with newer model VCRs and DVD players. Bah! How convenient for TV salesmen, huh?
