The Sun Herald | 04/20/2006 | It's official: South Mississippi is in a DROUGHT: "Between Jan. 1 and April 19, the Coast normally gets 21.22 inches of rain; so far this year only 4.57 inches have fallen, a 16.65-inch deficit."

Intensive care for the newly planted shastas begins...

Hmm.. Ironic isn't it? First we flood -- now a drought...

The worst part for our trees and other vegetation is that they have been in desperate need of some good cleansing rains to rid their root systems of the salt that accumulated in the soil after the storm surge receded.

I wonder if anyone out there beyond the coast really understands the torture. The fresh signs of spring that we all tried to take some comfort in... are turning brown and crispy. Next comes the oppressive heat of our summers -- with no shade or cool grass for relief...

This is springtime -- it isn't hot yet.

And then comes hurricane season.

I really like this Anita. The temperature gauge says it should be pretty hot already but we have low humidity. Any other time I would think that great but NOW the unusual makes me uneasy.

I will make a request for some spring showers to go your way. Hold on you may just get a nice shower really soon.

Sending you love as always
