Not a whole lot of time to blog tonight - though there's news aplenty... or maybe because there's news aplenty?
First on the to-do list is to finish painting the dining room before morning. We managed to get the room cleared out by mid-morning.. bye-bye Christmas tree..

No, we did not go out and buy a dining room table or something crazy like that. Tomorrow morning we are renting a truck and heading over to Operation Vanessa HQ to haul some of the donations back to our house for sorting and storage... We're hoping that splitting the items between the two locations will make it a bit more manageable for all involved.

We got off to a late start since our local Lowe's store was out of paint... But we were determined enough to take all the cranky children on a car-ride to Gautier tonight. I took it as a sign that I was able to get two gallons of my lovely pea-green paint there before 9pm.

The first coat is complete now and we're probably too bleary-eyed for a good touch-up job but we'll do it anyway...
We should be in fine shape for loading (and unloading) a truck in the morning.... *flop*

You don't know me, but I stumbled across your blog and I am encouraged by the progress and determination you and you family have shown since Katrina....Keeping you and all of the area in our prayers.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about us... And thank you for the prayers -- keep 'em coming.. we all need them.
That's a really lovely floor in the room with the Christmas tree. Would you mind telling me what it is? I'm redoing my floors, thankfully not do to a flood.
What a cute puppy!
The floors are engineered hardwood - Brazilian Cherry. Since they're the original floors we aren't sure of the actual color but the closest match we could find (we wanted to put the same floors upstairs) was a color called "rosewood" from Mohawk. We didn't actually go with the Mohawk flooring upstairs, however.. because we learned that the beauty of Brazilian Cherry is that it actually darkens over time.
You've probably done the upstairs already, but I googled for that wood and found it on the eco-timber site, which handles "green" flooring

That's one of the sites for green stuff I had found, I am hoping it doesn't cost the earth; I haven't gotten out to look at it yet.
