"Many people are neck-deep in that reality, scratching for the basics of meals, shelter and a job. But a high-powered group of community leaders, elected officials and architects are busily hammering out an ambitious framework for what could come next: to rebuild the entire 80-mile stretch of Mississippi's coast in a way that could produce a new model for small towns. "

I am not sure where I stand on this one, personally. I do wonder where such vision leaves the less fortunate of our communities... I do wonder how realistic the plans are -- we've heard this 'talk' before... But at the same time the whole thing echoes the sentiments of our household. We have decided to tackle the aftermath of Katrina by taking advantage of the opportunities she has provided - for change, for improvement, for dreaming new dreams... at least until we run out of money, that is. Far be it for me to chastize the city planners for doing the same.
