Camels & Clay: Adding some color to our lives

With the texture on the walls it was just too tempting not to go and do something crazy like
start painting. I decided to start in the babies' room since it is one of the smallest rooms and it would be fantastic for them to have a finished place to play and sleep before any of us.
With Dave keeping the offspring entertained, I managed to get a full coat of paint on the walls by 2pm.

In the process we found that our sheetrock fellahs missed sanding the walls of the babies' closet - so I had to sand it out and spray some texture-in-a-can and let it all dry before priming in there. I only got about a fifth of the closet painted before midnight. We decided to wait until we can move the shelf and clothes bar out of that space before finishing.

It is thoroughly exciting to spend some time thinking about something relatively frivolous such as wall colors. I have chosen nice earthy tones for every room: 'Soft Camel' for the girls' room, 'New Haven Clay' for our room, 'Sandy Shell' for the bathroom, 'Terra Cotta Trail' for the laundry, 'Sag Harbor' for the dining room, 'Honey Pot' for the kitchen, and plain ol' 'Coffee' for the living room.

Speaking of coffee, I need to go make some. Have to stay awake long enough to finish priming the laundry room walls. No rest for the weary, I'm afraid.

Tomorrow promises to be busy with William celebrating his 8th birthday all day and well into the night, I'm sure. We're also going to take a trip to Ocean Springs to help sort some donated items from a group in Minnesota - and maybe pick up some much-needed diapers while we're there. In the meantime, back to the masking tape and paint drips til the wee hours for me!
