We woke up late this morning after a long and mostly sleepless night. After a few cups of coffee and a bit of wandering aimlessly trying to figure out to do with an entire Saturday in front of us - a truck arrived.
They are a roofing crew and they come armed with ladders and nail guns and a wheelbarrow they have apparently dubbed "El Gordo". They went straight to work and moments ago the enormous blue tarp marked with the letters F-E-M-A fluttered to rest on top of our dead hydrangeas.
A couple more hours of banging and scraping and we'll have it: progress! A repaired roof coupled with yesterday's purchase of a new toaster is much more than we could have hoped for just a few days ago.
Update: It was dark outside by the time the roofers returned to their trucks and left. We had a chance to go out and look at what had been done in the morning though and we have no complaints. The roof looks fine and you can barely tell where it has been patched in most areas. The most obvious patch is on a section of the garage roof but it will all fade and blend in time. They did not replace the fascia and we believe that another crew will be taking care of that. We'll be waiting to hear from New Century next week!
